FAQ
I encourage all my clients to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the underlying cause of their headaches and migraines.
Here are some of the commonly asked questions we receive...
The Watson Headache® Approach is unique because it is the only manual therapy backed by research to treat the root cause of headaches and migraines. It uses a specific sequence of gentle, sustained pressure techniques on the upper cervical spine, without any cracking or joint thrusts. This method aims to desensitize the lower brainstem, providing effective relief.
If we believe your symptoms are appropriate for treatment, you may need to have 3 sessions in the first 2 weeks. After that it is most likely you will require 1 session in the week following. At this point we should see a significant improvement in your symptoms, before proceeding with any further sessions. Treating the underlying cause of headaches and migraines, and advising you on what you can do at home to help, means ongoing treatments are not necessary.
This will be discussed in further detail in your appointments.
Yes, we treat children. Adolescents often suffer from abdominal migraines, which we can effectively address because the Vagus Nerve, responsible for digestion, connects to the brainstem. If the upper cervical spine is causing brainstem sensitization, it can lead to abdominal pain. Our gentle treatment is well-tolerated by children and can also help with migraines.
